Get to Know Find Fivel!

Find Fivel! was created in 2020 by Tani Guterman, a pediatric occupational therapist by trade. His goal was to offer children and families around the world a fun, Jewish search-and-find activity featuring a vibrant Orthodox family—loosely inspired by Tani’s own family!

As a wholesome Jewish alternative to traditional seek-and-find books, each scene invites readers on a journey to help Fivel and his family locate their missing "Mitzvah items"—special holy objects found throughout a Jewish home.

Fivel, his family, and their missing items can be found weekly in The Jewish Link and Nekudah Tovah. Find Fivel! has also expanded into a published book series, with three volumes currently available on BN.com (Barnes & Noble) and more on the way, G-d willing!

Get to know Fivel’s family: The Fivelavitches

Fivel

The patriarch of the family, this dad in his prime carries an easy, youthful confidence. Fivel loved working with kids in his private practice, but comfortably transitioned into a stay-at-home dad and master homemaker when the family moved to the Midwest. He still maintains a dedicated clinic space in the house and works part-time remotely. Fivel has a rich vocal talent (he’s a leader of prayers!), plays guitar, hosts his own podcasts, and loves diving into a good book. An avid home chef, he loves preparing homemade meals and treats for his family, as well as exploring local parks and farms with Chavel and the kids.

Chavel

The matriarch of the family, Chavel effortlessly balances youthful grace with deep wisdom. A brilliant and creative educator who serves as Dean at a local school, she is a gifted writer, storyteller, and singer. Chavel loves spending quiet moments in her sunroom, reading, enjoying music, and hanging out with her family. She also hopes to pick up playing the piano again soon!

Yoel

The oldest of the Fivelavitch kids, Yoel is standing on the edge of adolescence and loves to build, write, and create original songs and stories. A master LEGO builder, he can craft almost anything from paper and tape—once even inventing a brand-new gameboard entirely out of Monopoly cards!

Yael

The spunky second-oldest, this creative girl is in the sweet spot of middle childhood. She loves to sing, dance, and draw, turning any ordinary coloring page into a super-sparkly masterpiece. Yael enjoys running around and being the official taste-tester for all of her dad’s yummy kitchen inventions—wishing only that she could ride a unicorn, too!

Chiel

Full of early-elementary energy, this active boy is always on the move and ready for the next big adventure. Full of curiosity and enthusiasm, Chiel loves keeping pace with the big kids, mastering new skills, and bringing constant action and laughter to the household.

Tzurel

Stepping confidently into her preschool years, Tzurel is a bright spark of imagination. She loves everything pink and purple—especially when paired with her favorite companion and constant partner-in-play, her doll Tzirep.

Nussel

Right in the prime of toddlerhood, this energetic little guy is a whirlwind of spunk, personality, and hilarious antics. He can often be found singing tunes at the top of his lungs while clutching his favorite toy car, Greeney, with his beloved ball, Wally-Bally, never far behind.

Yossel

The baby of the family, Yossel brings pure joy to the house. Just shy of his first birthday, he’s always finding delightful little ways to get into mischief while crawling around with a perpetual, bright smile on his face.

Fishel

The family’s happy-go-lucky pet fish who tags along in spirit on all of the Fivelavitch adventures!
